Introduction to SuperKarambaWhat is this thing anyway? SuperKaramba is a program that lets you run little mini-applications on your desktop. This mini-apps are called themes. SuperKaramba is the "engine" that runs the themes. Without any themes to run, SuperKaramba alone doesn't do much. So why would I want this? Because there are lots of really cool themes that you can download and run instantly! Imagine accessing current weather, email, system status, news, etc. directly from your desktop. And most of the themes look pretty cool too! Think of it as a toybox for your computer. Why don't people just write real programs instead of "themes"? Because SuperKaramba makes it really easy to write mini-applications that do some pretty complex things. Think of SuperKaramba as an application development environment designed to make one kind of program (desktop eyecandy) really easy to write. On the other hand, it probably wouldn't be very wise to write a spreadsheet or word processor in SuperKaramba. It's designed to do one thing and do it well. Great, I want SuperKaramba! Where do I get it? Download it right here. But remember that you need to also download some themes so you have something to play with. Ok, so where do I download these "themes" things? You can get them here or by choosing Download Themes from the SuperKaramba main menu. I need help! Where can I get more help? If none of the documentation helps you, post a message on the discussion boards. Make sure to clearly state your problem, the distribution of linux you are using and version, and the version of SuperKaramba you are using.
